Tessa Chenoa

Tessa Chenoa is a naturalist, poet, essayist, humorist and life coach. She retired from a career in environmental education and natural resources interpretation in order to pursue her ever-constant dream of writing. She lives on a lovely, wooded farm in the Texas Hill Country with her relentlessly optimistic dog, eccentric cat, a pair of donkeys, and whatever animals, children, grandchildren and friends wander onto the farm. It is a perfectly imperfect life.

About Lassoing Snakes

Combining nature writing with memoir, Lassoing Snakes is a collection of essays and poetry that make the science behind conservation accessible, enjoyable, and relatable. Curiosity, wonder, celebration, concern and a quirky humor are interwoven as the author shares her passion for our natural world. Written in a variety of styles, each entry stands on its own. Together they create a gateway to a lifetime of “addiction to nature.”

About Joy365

Planned for release in November 2026 (fingers crossed!), Joy365 is an interactive daybook about… Joy! Check my blog, below, for occasional excerpts from my manuscript, such as this one: Joy365 The Zone:

“My favorite place of all is “The Zone.” If you have something you are really passionate about, you know where “The Zone” is. It’s that place inside your head you enter when you are concentrating solely on your passion – whether it is writing or drawing, woodworking, sewing, practicing an instrument, or any number of possible interests – it’s the mindset you enter when you are fully immersed in that. The rest of the world, the rest of your everyday life and concerns, fade into the far reaches of your mental background, and it is just you and your passion in peaceful coexistence…”

Reader Reviews of Lassoing Snakes

It is such an encouragement to hear what my readers have to say about Lassoing Snakes!

Lassoing Snakes is more than essays and poetry, it is a map of the heart writ large over the natural world. The reader is invited to pause, listen, giggle, and reflect, as Tessa Chenoa shares observations and lessons fromm a life lived close to the heartbeat of wild things.

ELIZABETH W.

…I loved the book in so many ways. This naturalist describes her love for nature in essays and poetry – and she transmits that easily to the reader…her spiritual connection to these things is apparent, and her determination to teach her own family and the public is admirable. I highly recommend this book!

BARBARA K.

Wonderful, poetic, and hilarious musings about nature. I highly encourage your reading this book of delights.
